About the orchestra
The Chamber Orchestra of the Dvorak Region was founded
in 1976 in Kralupy nad Vltavou in Central Bohemia by
chamber music lovers from Kralupy and the nearby towns
of Slany, Veltrusy, Roztoky and Prague. From the beginning
it has been led by Vaclav Mazacek, a member of the Czech
Philharmonic Orchestra.
The orchestra has already given about five hundred concerts,
playing Baroque masters, the music of Classicism and Romanticism
as well as compositions of contemporary authors. About seventy
professional soloists, mostly members of the Czech Philharmonic
Orchestra, have taken part in the orchestra's performances.

Under the guidance of Vaclav Mazacek, the amateur musicians have
already managed to achieve an excellent standard and are
considered one of the best non-professional Czech orchestras.
They won the 1993 competition of non-professional orchestras
in Prague, gaining the right to compete at the European Festival
of Chamber Orchestras to be held in 1994 in Brno.
In 1993-1995 the orchestra made several concerts tours through
Cote-Vermeille (South France), Holland, Slovakia and to Hungary.
The Chamber Orchestra of the Dvorak Region made several records
in the Czech Radio studio in Prague and several alive concerts
were recorded and broadcasted, too. The Czech TV studio in Prague
recorded also a programme of the orchestra. A compact disc recorded
by the orchestra in 1994 was very successful and met a positive
reviews response.
The orchestra is sponsored by the town of Kralupy nad Vltavou (Central Bohemia).
